University Dialysis West is a chronic outpatient dialysis unit located at the Texas Diabetes Institute. This pleasant, modern, 28 station dialysis facility boost one of the lowest morbidity and mortality rates in the nation. It's experienced bilingual staff of registered nurses, L.V.N.'s and patient care technicians provide tailored dialysis prescription for all our patients. Many patients are on daily dialysis regime, oone of the few clinics offering this in the country. All patient needs social and nutritional are addressed by members of our licensed staff. Our world renown medical director has lectured and published numerous articles on all aspects of nephrology and dialysis.

Physicians

Juan Carlos Ayus, MD
serves as the Medical Director of the Adult Renal Dialysis Unit at The Texas Diabetes Institute, and also serves as the professor of Medicine with the Division of Nephrology at the UT Health Science Center of San Antonio in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Ayus received his Bachelor's Degree from the National College #17 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He also received his Medical Degree from the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine. Dr. Ayus completed his residency in internal medicine at the Medical research Institute University of Buenos Aires in Buenos Aires, Argentina and also at The Hennepin County Medical Center at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dr. Ayus completed his fellowships in Nephrology at the Medical Research Institute University of Buenos Aires in Buenos Aires, Argentina and at the University of California Renal Center San Francisco General Hospital in San Francisco, California.
