Why is TDI one of the leading diabetes institutes in the country? We combine treatment, research, and educational services together under a 153,000 square foot facility in San Antonio, Texas. Our facility features the following amenities for you:

The Diabetes Education Program - is ADA ( American Diabetes Association) certified. The diabetes education department offers a 10 hour diabetes self-management training program in both English and in Spanish. Individual instructions for disease management, home glucose monitoring, insulin administration, and nutrition counseling is also available by appointment at 5 clinic locations throughout the city, call (210) 358-7100.

Demonstration Teaching Kitchen - This full service kitchen houses our popular cooking classes. These are offered on the third Wednesday of each month from 3-4 p.m. For a small fee of $3.00, to be paid at the cashier located on the first floor of the institute. Fitness Center - This 2,000 square foot gym caters to every aspect of your training program. Under the direction of the Fitness Center Staff you’ll be able to use treadmills, elliptical cross trainers, upright and recumbent bicycles, arm cycles, multi-station gym and stretch mats. More information can be found in our Exercise section.

Texas Diabetes Institute Garden - The Texas Diabetes Institute has created a garden to grow fruits, vegetables and herbs to be used in the cooking classes and other special occasions such as support group meetings. Patients are able to taste the foods grown in the garden, which are used in the healthy recipes prepared by Registered Dieticians. If you would like to volunteer in the garden please contact the Diabetes Education Department (210) 358-7100.

701 Café and Grill - Come on in and enjoy our savory items designed with you in mind by our staff dietitians and chefs. Open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 701 Café features heart and diabetic friendly entrees. Parties of up to 125 can be arranged through our catering services. We include the finest fare such as pesto grilled chicken, teriyaki glazed tuna steak, filet mignon, heart healthy meals. We also offer traditional breakfast and lunch packages.

Meeting/Conference Accommodations - With seating for over 170, you’ll be able to enjoy informational seminars and conferences without overcrowding. This state-of-the-art facility includes two movie theatre quality monitors, premier sound system for conferences requiring video and audio presentations, and LCD projection for PowerPoint presentations. This site is available for education/professional training as well. Catering from 701 Café is available to meet all your event needs.

Room reservation includes, but is not limited to labor for training on audio-visual equipment, custodial and utility charges. The following equipment is available at no additional charge:

Chapel - This historic chapel contains stained glass from Lutheran General in San Antonio. With seating for 70 people, the chapel is available year round.
